CRAWLEY, WEST SUSSEX, UK. (22 January, 2014)— Edwards is delighted to announce it has received a top safety award from LG Display at their Safety Management Awards held in Paju, Korea. Edwards was recognised for excellence in safety management, for both performance on site and for the safety ethos which exists throughout Edwards.
Seven key partners were rewarded; Edwards was recognized as best in the self-managing safety program especially for behavioural safety and awarded the top prize in their category. LG Display, one of the world’s largest LCD panel makers, held the awards as part of its commitment to seek improvements in safety management with its partners.
A significant part of Edwards’ commitment to safety at LG Display was the introduction of improved methods to provide a stable way of moving vacuum equipment around their fab, and which will be implemented in other customers around the world. SM Lee, President of Edwards Korea, commented that, “We are proud to have been recognised for our safety commitment by LG Display; key to our strategy for safety improvement is to reduce risk level with assessment, taking immediate action following any incident, and to improve people behaviour”.
SM Lee also pointed out that, “Safety is part of the culture at Edwards. Awards like this are not won in a day: we are always trying to steadily improve our safety culture. In March 2014, Edwards’ Cheonan C3 facility in Korea was recognised internally by Edwards, receiving a President’s Bronze Safety Award for achieving one million man hours without any lost time accidents or medical treatment case. It is fantastic to see our achievements also recognised by one of our partners.”
